Vacations on my Bucket List

There are so many amazing places I haven't even discovered! Here are my top travel spots on my bucket list.

Cruises

After reading the title of this post I know what you must be thinking, Kennedy, why would you write a blog post about cruises when they were practically “canceled” in 2020 for being a super-spreader of COVID-19? My response to this question is that it was one of my only good ideas for this month's update, but more importantly, I will hopefully fulfill this bucket list item in the distant future when COVID is no longer a concern.

I was first introduced to the huge world of cruises when my parents went on a trip through the Caribbean for my aunt’s birthday, leaving my brothers and I in Missouri. While I was jealous for the duration of their trip, I was so excited when my mom sent me pictures and I couldn’t wait for both of my parents to get home to tell me all about it.

When they got back, they shared everything about the cruise with my brothers and me. From the all inclusive drinks and food that you could request at any moment, to the amazing excursions they went on in countries like the Dominican Republic, it all sounded like an actual dream.

The whole idea of a cruise seems like a dream. Just think about it: you get on a huge boat with hundreds of other people, live on that boat for an entire week, ride the boat through the biggest oceans in the world, and then stop at literal countries to enjoy their beaches or do touristy things. Some cruise lines have their own private islands that are exclusive and can only be used by people on that cruise. How did someone come up with this whole concept? And don’t even get me started on how an enormous cruise ship can float with thousands of people on it and not sink. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND!

Anyways, going on a cruise sounds so fun, and I didn’t even know how many types of cruises there are that you can do. When I thought of a cruise before my parents went on one, I thought they were only the type of cruise that would go through the Caribbean and tropical places. But then I found out that you can go on a cruise to anywhere in the world. There are cruises that go through the Mediterranean Sea, Australia, and even Alaska. Both sets of my grandparents love going on Alaskan cruises to see the glaciers and just the landscape and the pictures they showed me were breathtaking.

If I were to go on a cruise (in the far future) I would definitely go on one that takes you to the Bahamas and other tropical countries like the one my parents went on. This would be such a good spring break trip because it’s only like five days long. Then after going on a couple of those more energetic and party-like cruises in the younger years of my life, I’d want to go on an Alaskan cruise to just sit back and enjoy the beauty of Alaska and relax.

I hope you enjoyed my hot take on cruises and why they are on my bucket list. Let me know what you think!
